My Skybus story

I had a flight booked with Skybus Airlines in late January to Bellingham, WA. A group of 7 friends and myself had planned a snowboarding trip to Whistler, B.C. and would be flying Skybus to Bellingham, renting a car and driving the rest of the way to Whistler.

I received an email from one of my traveling companions this morning that Skybus had canceled our flight! I read the story on the Columbus Dispatch and immediately had to begin thinking through our options. We have already booked a condo in Whistler. We were getting ready to, but luckily had not, booked our several hundred dollar a piece lift tickets. I jumped on a couple travel sites to find flights to the Seattle or Vancouver areas. I was unable to find any flights for much under $400, over double what our flights would have cost on Skybus.

Not everyone in the group is able to add that kind of extra cost to our trip budget so we will be canceling our trip. I (the trip planner) will probably be forced to eat the condo fee. Skybus is not going out of business. I can understand them wanting to keep costs low but they should certainly honor any flights they booked with customers. If they wanted to cancel the Bellingham and Burbank routes beginning in March, that would be a different story. I am therefore boycotting Skybus and I encourage anyone else facing a similar situation to do the same.

You can contact Skybus via this link or contact me.

I can’t believe they just canceled your flight like that without offering an alternative…. especially after you made all those plans. I was really excited to plan a trip out west with Skybus, but not anymore! Good luck with getting your condo fee back!

[…] In a time when airlines are taking a beating about everything from timeliness to kicking off scantily clad co-eds, we have decided not to jump on the bandwagon and start railing against Skybus.  iKangaroo really hopes that Skybus is able to deliver on their promises and will flourish.  Nevertheless, we sympathize with the travelers who had their flight to Seattle canceled and had to… […]

Like you, I had a flight to Bellingham scheduled to visit with my son and his family upon his return from Afghanistan. They live at McChord AFB in Seattle. So much for that now. I’m scrambling to try and find something affordable - but oh well.

I love taking Skybus, I am moving to Fl. And planned on flying Skybus back and forth to Columbus to see my son, But I just heard on the tv.
That they were closing. I don’t want to see this happen.
